LINUX.
So right now I'm typing this blog in the word editor in Linux open office. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 which I got free. So as we know many hate linux. I don't know the reason why but many hate linux. When I say Linux they say “SHIT”. But in a way Linux is good. There are many reasons to say so. One of the main reasons to make Linux(There are many types of linux OS's) a perfect OS is the desktop. It's simple, clean, neat and customizable. You can put wallpapers and detects any new device inserted or connected via anything like bluetooth and creates a shortcut on the desktop to access it. And you can place shortcuts to your mostly used folders and applications.
The
other main reason is that it has a lot of many important applications
pre-installed such as a word editor. And they are constantly getting
updated. But in an operating system like Windows 7 you have that
little word editor which just sucks. It has now spell checker or
formatting options like in Open Office and Libre office what you get
with Ubuntu.
And the other thing is multimedia. Linux operating systems comes with
full fledged media player such as rythmbox. It is way better than
that stupid media player. Because you can access your pod casts or
access the Jamedo music store and buy latest music. But the only
problem is you need to agree to license before installing all media
codecs. But otherwise it's perfect.
So

pre-installed when install the ubuntu 10.10 OS.
And
the other important factor which makes Linux amazing is the App
store. You have millions of apps ready to downlaod and installed. And
around 80% of them are free. Because the makers of Ubuntu always aim
at making the OS free and available to everyone. The specialty in
this appstore is that you can add app providers you might come across
in the Internet such Wine. You can add it to software repositories
and when you refresh app store(That means it checks for the
availability of the apps and the popularity of apps) and it will
automatically check if any updates are available for the app provider
you added. It's a lot like the Android play store but it can do more.
The
other thing which makes this OS better is the cross-platform support
and availability of many softwares which are already available for
windows operating systems. Such as Skype, Mozilla firefox, Google
Chrome and other apps. And also if you want you can install Wine
which you can find in the appstore and run windows softwares in
Ubuntu. And the next thing is drivers and support. In ubuntu you get
all drivers for media players, phones and cameras built in. So that
you don't need do go through the Internet to find the drivers for the
device you just pluged into tour pc. But if you plugged a device and
it doesn't have the drivers no worries ubuntu has a wizard which
enables you to find the correct driver you need. But it's not like
the wizard you find in windows which doesn't work and useless. But in
Ubuntu It always updates it self and so you get everything. And
Support. Right Ubuntu is amazing when you come to support and
services because you have a community to help you out in problems you
will face when using Ubuntu. And also it's free.
Right so now I think you understood how powerful Linux operating systems are but there is still one thing remaining. The most important thing. Ubuntu is always free and everything which come with are free. That's why in the CD box it says Try it. Love it, Share it. I don't think Microsoft will ever give away their new OS free.
Linux is the main core like thing but it has many operating systems which run on Linux like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu and each is for different thing like Ubuntu is universal fits for anyone and Xubuntu is to restructure old hardware and Edubuntu is for students with all educational apps they need.
